Walnut Ridge is a close-knit community of about 5,000 people. It is the largest town in Lawrence County and the county seat. Walnut Ridge is a relaxed rural community where its residents enjoy supporting the Walnut Ridge Bobcats' sporting events, visiting at the Polar Freeze, and celebrating the Beatles at the Ridge Festival. Agriculture is a large industry in Walnut Ridge. Rice, soybeans, wheat and corn are the major crops grown in this area. Walnut Ridge is also proud to have Williams Baptist College.

The Lawrence County School District serves the community through three public schools: Walnut Ridge Elementary (for Kindergarten through 6th grade), Walnut Ridge Middle School, and Walnut Ridge High School (for 7th grade through 12th grade). Walnut Ridge is also the home of Williams Baptist College, located next to the airport and the industrial park.
In the fall, the Beatles at the Ridge Festival is a favorite yearly event for Walnut Ridge and other northeast Arkansas residents. The festival celebrates when The Beatles traveled through Walnut Ridge. The Beatles sculpture located at Beatles Park is dubbed The British Invasion of the Rock n’ Roll Highway. The sculpture pays tribute to a visit from the legendary rock band to Walnut Ridge on September 18, 1964. The Beatles landed in a small plane at the Walnut Ridge Airport on their way to a weekend vacation to a dude ranch in southern Missouri. Also, in December, there is a fabulous Christmas Lights Display in Stuart Park.
